Hey, I’m Spectra, and I’m a system of 9 to 11 people coexisting in one body. This is commonly known as DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder) or previously MPD (Multiple Personality Disorder). As a very important side note, there are some systems who very much dislike these terms, as not every case of multiplicity stems from trauma. We believe we were a result of early trauma, but by now we are a fairly well adjusted adult who copes with the oddities and frustrations that come with our plurality the same way someone would cope with the frustrations of clinical depression.
In an attempt to understand our own system better, as well give others an insight into what it means to be plural, we decided to start this blog. Our goal with running this blog is to help other systems, friends and families of systems, and social/medical/psychiatric workers who may not be familiar enough with systems to truly help someone in their care. You can ask questions of all of us or to specific members. If a question is asked to a specific member and they’re not available, we’ll answer in their stead as best as we can. We will do our best to keep everything up to date.
